We offer dentures made from two different types of materials:
1) Metal – Generally more expensive than other denture types, metal dentures are known for their excellent strength, better grip and chewing experience. Better fitting and often the material of choice, they are made out of Cobalt Chrome.
2) Acrylic – Made from resin, acrylic dentures are an affordable option. If looked after well, the appearance of this material is quite natural and can hold their appearance for years. On the downside, these are prone to breakages and require more stringent cleaning. Some of our patients feed back that chewing experience is better with the metal dentures as acrylic covers the palate/roof of the mouth.
Overall, metal options are generally more expensive due to the type of material and craft involved in making them.
Due to the missing tooth/teeth, the neighbouring teeth start to super erupt (turn towards each other to close the gap), causing sensitivity. Teeth become loose and this increases the chances of gum infection. It’s a good idea to think about tooth replacement options as soon as you lose a tooth. It’s never a good idea to leave a gap in the mouth.

Dentures should be changed every 5-7 years. Fundamental changes such as a change in the shape of a face, shrinkage of gums and general wear & tear result in dentures becoming loose. In some cases, they can be relined or repaired by the dentist.
