Teeth discolouration is a natural process that occurs as we age, despite maintaining excellent oral health. Our habits such as smoking, excessive consumption of tea/coffee, chewing tobacco etc. can sometimes quicken the discolouration.
Teeth whitening at our practice in Ipswich is the most sought after cosmetic dental treatment. A lot of our patients combine teeth straightening, composite bonding and whitening to get their desired smile.
Delivered in an hour, we whiten your teeth in the surgery, using Phillips Zoom laser teeth whitening. We use specialised apparatus and UV light. Once the hydrogen peroxide gel is applied, the UV light activates it, and you can walk away with a brighter smile during your lunch hour! Many of our patients barely manage to watch 2 back to back episodes of Friends before the treatment is over. An excellent choice for a quick whitening top up for a last minute social event.
At Ipswich Dental Surgery, we use the leading technology teeth whitening technology, Boutique so you can finish the treatment from the comfort of your own home. We provide you with made to measure gum-shields, bleaching gel and full instructions on how to use the system. You then wear the gel filled trays at home. You can even choose when to wear the trays – overnight or during the day – whatever fits in with your lifestyle.
This system requires three short appointments:
Appointment 1 – Impressions of your teeth are taken to make custom made gumshields.
Appointment 2 – We hand you the hydrogen peroxide whitening gel, and trays. We give you detailed instructions on how to use it.
Appointment 3 – Review of the final shade and some after photos.
Some of our patients who wish to get rid of yellow teeth and desire maximum impact in a short time opt for this option. A lot of people who have social events coming up such as weddings, graduation ceremonies etc. get Zoom whitening first and then top up with take-home kit.
You can also purchase “Top-up” gel for £45 when you feel the need to whiten your teeth.
Recently, teeth whitening has been under a lot of scrutiny due to being offered by unscrupulous individuals who have no training. General Dental Council have imposed stricter controls and have clarified that it can only be carried out by dental professionals.
All our dentists are GDC Registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission, so you can rest assured that treatment with us is safe and more effective than a lot of online options or over the counter systems.

Choose from 3 treatment options:
Zoom!® Rapid Whitening: In one day, (in fact in 90 minutes) you can walk away with teeth 12 shades lighter.
Home Whitening: Whiten your teeth at home with our home whitening kit, includes two gel syringes and made to measure clear gumshields.
You can also choose to combine both the systems to get the maximum effect in a short time – ideal for last-minute social events.
As long as you have healthy teeth, gums and a good layer of enamel on your teeth surface, it should work for you. We do not recommend this treatment for pregnant women and lactating mothers.
No, the procedure does not hurt as it does not involve drilling. You may experience some sensitivity after treatment which wanes around 24 hours later.
Teeth whitening has been under a lot of scrutiny lately. It is one of the safest, least-damaging cosmetic treatments. Research has suggested that if carried out by a trained professional, there is no damage to the tooth surface. This treatment can only be carried out by GDC registered professionals so you should check the qualifications and training of the person before committing to this treatment.
By and large yes, however, some people may not get the desired results as the teeth may be naturally less white. Genetics, dietary habits and smoking tend to be the factors that influence this treatment.
Express whitening system delivers remarkable results instantly after the treatment. In contrast, with home whitening system, it takes a couple of days to see changes with full results after a couple of weeks.
Laser teeth whitening can deliver results in 90 minutes. It takes another couple of days, with regular use of whitening gel to see the final results, whereas the home whitening kit when used on its own takes up to 10 days and full results become noticeable after 2 weeks.
Teeth whitening does not last forever. Depending on the system chosen, it can last for 2-3 years. If your diet consists of food or drinks that stain your teeth (excessive tea/coffee, red wine, smoking or chewing tobacco), you can expect it to last for 6-12 months.
Whiter teeth does not necessarily mean healthy teeth. Maintaining a good oral health routine, visiting the hygienist and cutting out the acid from diet means your teeth will naturally stay whiter. Please make sure that you only approach a qualified, GDC registered, and fully-trained professional for this treatment. If in doubt, don’t be shy to ask if they are GDC registered as anybody delivering teeth whitening treatment without a General Dental Council registration is breaking the law.
To whiten teeth in a day with laser whitening: £650 for our express teeth whitening.
To whiten teeth at home using our home whitening kit, it costs £395.
A combination of both home & laser whitening costs £699.
